The summer Milky Way rising late on a spring night over a fallow wheatfield in spring, 2013. Taken from home, May 6, 2013, with the Canon 5D MkII and Samyang 14mm lens at f/2.8 for a stack of 5 x 2.5 minute exposures at ISO 1600, all tracked on the iOptron Sky-Tracker. The ground is from one exposure. Taken from a latitude of +50° so Scorpius at right and Sagittarius right of centre are skimming the southern horizon.

A weak display of Northern Lights with red-pink upper curtains, in the northeast with the summer Milky Way rising in the east, taken from home overlooking a springtime field. Taken with the Canon 5D MkII and 14mm Samyang lens in a single exposure at f/2.8 and ISO 1600, tracked on the iOptron SkyTracker. Taken in the early morning hours of May 6, 2013.

A bright bolide meteor breaking up as it enters the atmosphere and caught by chance at the beginning of a time-lapse sequence under the light of the Full Moon, April 25, 2013. Taken at the old farmstead near home, with the Canon 5D MkII and 24mm lens for 36 seconds at f/4 and ISO 800.

Star trails over the old farmstead buildings near home, on April 22, 2013, lit by a gibbous Moon in a very clear sky. This is a stack of 4 exposures: 45s at f/5.6 and ISO 800 for the short trail and a stack of 3 x 10 minutes at f/6.3 and ISO 100 for the long trails. With the Canon 24mm lens and Canon 5D MkII.

Comet PANSTARRS C/2011 L4 low in NW sky on March 31, 2013. This is a stack of 6 x 60 second exposures with the Canon 200mm lens and 1.4x Extender for f/4 and Canon 60Da at ISO 1600, on the Kenko SkyMemo tracking platform.

Comet PANSTARRS C/2011 L4 in dark twilight low in NW sky on March 28, 2013. This is a stack of 8 x 30 second exposures with the Canon 200mm lens at f/2.8 and Canon 60Da at ISO 800, on the Kenko SkyMemo tracking platform.

Comet PANSTARRS (C/2011 L4) over the VLA radio telescope array in New Mexico, March 17, 2013. The landscape is lit by the nearly quarter Moon high in the sky out of frame. This is a composite of two images taken moments apart: a 50-second untracked exposure for the ground and a 25-second tracked exposure for the sky, so both sky and ground are sharp. All at f/2.8 with the 50mm Sigma lens on the Canon 60Da at ISO 400. Position worked out with Photographers Ephemeris.

The waxing crescent Moon near Jupiter (above) and Aldebaran and the Hyades star cluster (below) on the evening of March 17, 2013. Shot from near the VLA in New Mexico, the same night as the comet image over the VLA. This is a 7-image HDR stack of exposures from 6 seconds to 1/13s in one stop intervals with the 135mm telephoto lens at f/2.8 and Canon 60Da camera at ISO 400. The camera and lens were on the iOptron tracker.
